Apologies
I apologize to anyone that was watching my 4"x8" indian blanket painting set to end tonight. I just checked it out and the sky is still very wet, so I'd rather end it and reschedule it when it's dry than tell the purchaser after they've won it that it'll unexpectedly be another week before it ships. If you'd like to know when it's been relisted, just email me and I'll send you a reminder.

I'm kicking myself for not adding some galkyd to speed up the drying process on several of my latest paintings, and now they're taking forever to dry so I haven't listed any of them yet. In the meantime, here's a poppy field.

Along the Beach - 4x8 Oil Painting

4"x8" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD
I've been working on a 10"x10" painting and have found myself getting really frustrated with the texture of the canvas being too smooth, so I've spent the night looking online for prestretched canvas with a rougher texture. I've placed a small order with frenchcanvas.com for their linen canvases to give that a try, but if anyone can recommend a "toothy" canvas, cotton or linen, that's reasonably priced, please let me know. I'd really love to hear what works for other landscape artists.

Sunset Over Ocracoke Island Dunes - 5x7 Oil Painting
I was in the mood to paint something that involved the beach but didn't feature any water in it, and flipping through my photos from Ocracoke I found one of a sunset over the dunes and I knew I had to paint it. I just love a dark cloud trying in vain to hide the brilliant colors behind it.

Outer Banks Morning - 4x8 Oil Painting

4"x8" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD
Whew, I feel like I'm constantly trying to get ahead of myself in painting but I'm still always so behind on what I want to do. I'm really hoping I'll get a chance to work on some larger paintings soon, since it's been a while on that front, but I also want to keep listing these smaller paintings more regularly.

Evening at Topsail - 6x6 Oil Painting

6"x6" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD
SOLD
A few clouds were still lingering over the beach as the sun set on Topsail. I like this moment in the day where the beach has mostly emptied and there are only a few more moments of light left before the stars come out.
I was lucky enough to have recently won a beautiful art print from artist Julie Beck, of skeleton keys, and I was excited when it arrived in the mail today. Julie's works have a great sense of warmth to them, so check her blog out if you haven't before!
