Stalled Out on Boardwalk - 6x8 Oil Painting

6"x8" oil painting on archival canvas panel
SOLD

It's been a while since I've painted a still life and I wanted to do something a little different from my normal subjects. I have to say this little metal car from Monopoly was fun to paint. I'd like to try painting a few more of the game pieces from Monopoly, and other games, in this smaller scale.

Crashing Waves - 8x10 Oil Painting

Crashing ocean waves oil painting
8"x10" oil painting on archival canvas panel
SOLD

Looking through some photos I took from a recent trip to the beach, I was drawn to the difference in the colors of the ocean between the foreground and background and wanted to approach it in a painting. It was an enjoyable subject, and I'm always glad for the chance to practice painting waves.

"For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),
It's always our self we find in the sea.""
- e.e. cummings

Going through my references from Hammocks Beach, I was really drawn to this scene, with its blue and green ocean mix and foaming waves. It made a soothing mix.

After all the trouble a different painting has been giving me the past few days, it was nice to have very little fuss on this one.

Also, in case you missed my post announcing it a little over a week ago, I hope you'll take the time to visit a new daily painters website, Daily Painter Originals. It's a great way to see the newest artworks by over 20 different artists.

I like playing with the great sweep of sand against grassy dunes. I'm working on another in this same size and palette, though it will be a few days before it gets finished.

There is a theory which states that if ever for any reason anyone discovers what exactly the Universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another that states that this has already happened.

New Site - Daily Painter Originals

daily painters originalsToday I'm excited to be part of the launch of a new website called Daily Painter Originals, featuring the works of a talented group of daily painters. Artist Carolyn Finnell has been great about getting this new effort together.

Currently including the works of 21 members, we hope it will be a great way for art lovers to quickly browse new paintings on a daily basis. Each thumbnail can be clicked on for a fuller size image, and from there you'll see the artist name, title of the painting, and links to the artist's website or blog, along with a link to purchase the painting if available.

With the variety of art showing each day, you'll never be bored! And to make sure you don't miss anything, you can subscribe to receive an email each day with thumbnails of the newest paintings.

And for you other daily painters out there, we still have room for 9 more; membership will be limited to 30 artists total. Information on submitting your work for consideration can be found on the submissions page.

Please stop by and visit, discover some new artists and make art a part of your day.
