Boat in Evening - 4x8 Oil Painting

4x8 oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I listed this little painting of a boat catching some late afternoon sun a few days ago but didn't get a chance to post it on my blog. I spent yesterday covering canvases with red gesso so they'd be ready to go once I figure out what to paint on them.

At Home on the Marsh - 6x6 Oil Painting

6x6 oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

The reference for this was from Morguefile (which is currently down), of a house on Assateague Island. I love the look of a house nestled in the marsh but I think mosquitoes and the giant horse flies would detract me from ever living there.

Sunset in the Country - 6x6 Oil Painting

6x6 oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

My computer has finally gotten a memory upgrade that it desperately needed. If you're a multitasker like me on the computer you know how much memory browsers and graphics programs can eat up. I bought mine from Crucial; I found the website useful since it scanned my computer for me to recommend compatible memory.

I hope everyone's geared up for a great upcoming weekend!

Victorian House - 4x8 Oil Painting

4x8 oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I'm really a sucker for Victorian houses, and I hope to live in one of my own some day. Until then, I guess I can paint them. Do you have a dream house or a favorite architectural style?

Lazy Evening - 5x7 Oil Painting

5x7 Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
SOLD

Leave it to me to spill soda all over myself as I was making a listing for this little painting of a sunset by a dock. The painting is unharmed, only my ego and my windpipe are a little bruised.

Bluebonnet Sunset - 5x7 Oil Painting

5x7 Oil Painting on Canvas Panel
SOLD

This painting of a sunset started with an open field, but I thought it looked pretty dull. I almost tossed it out but decided to throw in some bluebonnets to liven things up and give the focus it desperately needed. I'm just happy the addition saved it from a trip to the trash can!

Reflections on a Sunset - 4x4 Oil Painting

4x4 on canvas panel
SOLD

I decided to break out some of my smaller 4x4 canvases since I haven't worked on them much lately. Have I said how much I'm liking the tube of M. Graham's Cadmium Orange I recently picked up?

Golden Sunset - 5x7 Oil Painting

5x7 on canvas panel
SOLD

One of the reasons I'm drawn to painting sunset scenes right now is because it's giving me an opportunity to warm up my palette a bit more. I've always been a greens and blues kind of girl but I think it's time I tried the other end of the spectrum.

Last Glow - 4x8 Oil Painting

4x8 on canvas panel
SOLD

This painting took a while to find its direction. I built the concept on the similar two 6x6 paintings I posted a few weeks ago. I'm currently enthralled by sunsets so expect to see a lot of those coming up.

Marsh Days - 20x20 Oil Painting

20x20 on stretched canvas
SOLD

My schedule has been all convoluted lately so I'm not painting as much as usual, but I think things will normalize soon. I meant to post painting of clouds reflecting in marsh waters on a day heavy with humidity a few days ago.

Marsh House in the Evening - 24x24 Oil Painting

24x24 oil painting on stretched canvas
SOLD

I hope everyone has had a great 4th!

My husband showed me this house while we were passing through Beaufort, NC a few weeks ago. He remembered going to it once as a kid and thought I'd like the subject for a painting, since it sits right on the marsh. My favorite part was painting the house itself. I simplified the house a bit and changed the color to white from a more brownish color to make it stand out a bit, and because I wanted to exaggerate the late afternoon light.

Taking a Break - 4x8 Oil Painting

4x8 on canvas panel

This is my entry for the latest Different Strokes from Different Folks challenge, from a photo of a woman in a row boat taking a little break. I was afraid it would make me tear my hair out but I actually really enjoyed painting it. I find that I use a 4x8 format on many of these challenges; so far that's just the way the references have wanted to work out for me.
