Bluebonnet Field - 4x4 Oil Painting

4"x4" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I'm so glad Windows has that system restore option, which is basically a nice "undo" button for when I do something stupid. I was trying to update my email software a few days ago and after the update found myself staring at emails from 2003-2005 and nothing since. I completely freaked out thinking I had lost all of my recent emails, but thankfully remembered that I could roll back my computer to where it had been the day before and pretend like nothing ever happened. I was smart enough to back everything up before I tried again, and now have everything updated the way I wanted.

Beyond the Fence - 5x7 Oil Painting

5"x7" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

Can you believe it's almost September? I'm surprised at how fast this year has seemed to go. I know a lot of people are back to school and it's a busy time of year for many so I hope everyone's taking a chance to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

Bluebonnet Hill Guardian - 4x4 Oil Painting

4"x4" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I'm trying to go a little more subtle with my wildflower attempts by keeping the values of the ground and flowers closer together. If you're a big wildflower fan like me, check out the books by pastelist artist Elizabeth Mowry, especially her book Landscape Meditations. Whenever I see her work I just want to pick up pastels as a medium and get to work, forgetting just how sneezy I used to get whenever I got the chalk all over me.

Nature's Ballad II - 4x8 Oil Painting

4"x8" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

Well, I said I was going to list this on Saturday but it completely slipped my mind, so here it is now. This is the same scene as the last post, just with a different format.

Nature's Ballad I - 6x6 Oil Painting

6"x6" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I wasn't sure what composition I wanted to use for this scene, so I did this square format and a 4"x8" format (that one will be posted on Saturday). These sunset pieces are helping me find a spot of peace, which is an always welcome friend.

Blue Beach House - 6x6 Oil Painting

6"x6" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I've definitely found these little paintings of beach condos to be challenging with all the trim and details that need to be included in such a small space.

Cone Manor Trail - 18x24 Oil Painting

18"x24" on stretched canvas
SOLD

I've been dreaming of autumn for the past week. This is from a trail near Moses Cone Manor in Blowing Rock, NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I thought it would be a good opportunity to use the warmer palette that I've been experimenting with.

View at Pine Knoll - 12x24 Oil Painting

12"x24" oil painting on stretched canvas
SOLD

So I wanted to push myself to try an even warmer palette since I've been experimenting with mixing my colors up lately. I really dig this light caramel color for skies and will be trying it more. This is the view of the marsh from Pine Knoll Shores aquarium.

Morning Mists - 5x7 Oil Painting

5x7 oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

I'm getting a kick out of working with the pinks and purples and various colors of sunrises and sunsets. This one was even more fun because of the low-hanging morning fog.

I've been working on a larger painting today that will hopefully be ready to post within a week and now I'm beat. Here's a little sunset painting until the next time.

Winding Through - 4x8 Oil Painting

4" x 8" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

This was a quick, loose painting that was just a welcome break from working on more detailed pieces.

I've spent the day on a cleaning spree. I always feel more productive in an organized environment. I hope everyone's having a good weekend so far!
