Drifting - 20x20 Oil Painting

Closeup of detail:

20"x20" oil painting on stretched canvas
SOLD

There was something about this painting that my camera was at odds with. It's taken a lot of tweaking and this is close, but there's a bit of subtlety and luminance lost versus the actual painting. Sometimes the photographing is harder than the painting!

I've very drawn to these pristine, expansive beaches with giant clouds looming overhead. My favorite part of going to the beach has always been to watch the clouds, while hearing the ocean crash around me. Painting these scenes always brings that back.

Such a peaceful painting, beautiful. Paintings always look better in person, it would be great to be able to photograph them better, but try as I might I never quite capture the painting as it is in reality.

I agree, photographing can be a nightmare! But this still looks great. There's a real sense of expanse in it with the huge, billowing clouds and the small, distant boats. Great work, Kerri...you've got me dreaming of the sea too.

Fabulous! Yeah, cameras are mysterious creatures in what they perceive.

Beautiful painting. I like how the gossamer feeling of the sand drifts into the clouds, with that little touch of activity to bring us back to earth.
