Rolling Waves

6"x6" oil painting on archival canvas panel
SOLD

Ocean waves oil painting art by Kerri Settle
20"x20" oil painting on stretched canvas
SOLD

This scene started as a color study of rolling waves, but I couldn't resist going larger with it so I could play with details on a comfortable scale. Some weeks those little canvases just feel so cramped that a larger canvas is less daunting for me. It's nice to have a little more freedom with brushstrokes.

"Though inland far we be,
Our souls have sight of that immortal sea
Which brought us hither."
- William Wordsworth

These are all auctions I have currently running. I've been focusing on seascape studies this week and have at least a few more in the works; the blues and greens are very calming to me.

Marsh Evening - 16x20 Oil Painting

16"x20" oil painting on stretched canvas
SOLD

"Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else's." - Billy Wilder

I liked this shot of the marsh, with its large expanse of calm waters. I hope everyone had a great weekend

Sunset on the Marsh - 12x24 Oil Painting

12"x24" oil painting on stretched canvas
SOLD

"You can't have everything... where would you put it?" - Steven Wright

This painting did not like to have its picture taken since it has so many darker spots. It's also a painting that I went back to over and over again, trying to get it the way I wanted it. It's changed a lot from its previous versions.

View of the Marsh - 8x10 Oil Painting

8"x10" oil painting on archival canvas panel
SOLD

"It's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more money. And I guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money."
- Jack Handey

I had forgotten how much I loved Jack Handey quotes. Painting has been very challenging for me these past few weeks, but I'm doing what I can to work through the block and get some fresh work out there. Being an artist ain't easy!

"Be not afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still." - Chinese Proverb

Trying to get back into the swing of painting. This was based on a little path off the side of the road in Beaufort, NC.

House on the Marsh - 6x8 Oil Painting

misty morning marsh
6"x8" oil painting on canvas panel
SOLD

"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come." - Anne Lamott

Sorry about the lack of posting in the last week. I've had some more issues with my cat that was having blockages and am currently trying to get surgery lined up for him. So the next few weeks may also be spotty on posting, but I'm here, and painting to keep my mind occupied. I hope everyone had a great Easter. This painting is based on a spot in Swansboro, NC that I rode through last week.
